Olympic Casino: Rolling By The River

Ever since the world’s casino capital Las Vegas set the bar for high kitsch, it seems that a majority of casino interiors need to follow suit and Olympic Casino Radisson is no exception! Here you’ll find a Hawaiian atmosphere to make Elvis feel at home, stuffed with tropical palms, faux boulders, fish tanks and hot flaming torches.

The gaming staff struck us as being particularly professional at this casino. There were eleven tables on which to play Oasis, Draw, Three Card, Texas Hold ’em and Texas Hold’ em Ultimate Poker; two American Roulette tables, and two Blackjack tables. For those who prefer less personal contact, there are also 42 slot machines with special jackpots for players. Betting starts at 2 lats for card games and 0.50 lats for Roulette. Behind the scenes there’s a VIP area. Here there’s extra attentive service while you play at three gaming tables - for gold members only.

 While playing, we were able to choose free drinks from a special menu, which were not exactly top shelf but quite a normal selection. For those who want more choice or for visitors not gambling, everyone can register for free as a Bonus Client to get a 15 percent discount at the bar. Special offers from the bar for players and for occasional visitors are also available.

 As for other entertainment, we visited on the weekend when the casino featured a popular Latvian DJ, however other weekends showcase live bands. There’s also the Mirage bar and TV sports coverage in the gaming room. The casino is divided into smoking and non-smoking playing zones, and it’s located right by the river so you can choose to take a picturesque breather, too.

 If you’re hungry, all bets are off, as there’s no restaurant at this casino. However, there is Panorama in the hotel area of the building, offering up-market dining and occasional live music from breakfast to dinner, open daily 7:00 to 23:00.
