Latvia beats Luxembourg in FIFA World Cup qualifier

Latvian national football team defeated Luxembourg 2-0 (1-0) in a World Cup qualifier at the "Skonto" stadium in Riga yesterday.

The goals were scored by Jurijs Zigajevs (43rd minute) on a pass from Maris Verpakovskis, and Verpakovskis (76th minute) after a corner kick informs LETA.
On March 28 Latvia defeated Luxembourg 4-0 (1-0) in an away game of the World Cup qualification round. Together with Greece and Switzerland, Latvia is now first in Group Two with ten points from six games. Israel is fourth, Luxembourg fifth and Moldova sixth.
At the moment, Latvia is ranked 71st in the FIFA rankings, whilst Luxembourg is ranked 122nd.
