Festival "Golden Mask in Latvia" in October

The theater festival "Golden Mask in Latvia" will run from October 4 to October 15 and will feature two shows by acclaimed Russian performers from the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre on the stage of the Latvian National Opera.

On October 13 the Russian theater company will present a show of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's "Cosi fan tutte", directed by Alexander Titel and conducted by Wolf Gorelik.

Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre spokeswoman Irina Chernomurova describes this staging of "Cosi fan tutte" as modern and light-hearted. "The show is not about unfaithfulness, but about guilty conscience; not about a cruel experiment on unsuspecting girls, but about the punishment that awaits the experimenter."

Cast: Natalya Muradimova, Natalya Vladimirska, Larisa Andreieva, Elexei Dolgov, Ilya Pavlov, and Dmitry Zuyev.

On October 15 the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theater company will stage a ballet performance based on A. Chekhov’s play "Seagull", choreographed by John Neumeier and conducted by Felix Korobov, on the main stage of the Latvian National Opera.

The theater festival "Golden Mask in Latvia" running from October 4 until October 15 will include shows of "Uncle's Dream" by Fyodor Dostoyevsky that will be performed by the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater (St. Petersburg), directed by Emil Kapelyush and "The Shukshin Stories", based on stories by Vasily Shukshin, performed by the Theater of Nations (Moscow), directed by Alvis Hermanis.
