The Latvian banking sector lost LVL 579 million altogether in the first nine months this year, according to data from the Financial and Capital Market Commission informs Leta.

On September 30 of this year, assets of the Latvian banking sector reached LVL 21.579 billion, which is 5.4 percent less when compared to the first nine months of last year.

During the first nine months of the year, deposits in commercial banks operating in Latvia reached LVL 9.004 billion, which is 10 percent less when compared to the first nine months of 2008. Commercial banks issued LVL 15.763 billion in loans in the first nine months of the year, which is 5.4 percent less than during the same period last year.
