City Jazz Club: Jazz Up Your Evening

Riga’s first and only jazz club is a truly unique venture indeed.
City Jazz Club combines bar, restaurant and concert venue all in one, and there’s nothing average about any of these three parts! Firstly, you can rest assured that the food you’re served up, by Master Chef Stephen Celico will be nothing but 100 percent pure, fresh and homemade on the spot. “Nothing frozen, nothing from plastic packages,” he guarantees. After dinner, stick around and relax in this cool underground hideaway. The cocktails are somewhat pricey for Riga (€7-10), but they taste great when accompanied by the sounds of live jazz bands from both Latvia and abroad.
The venue is actually the brain-child of legendary Latvian jazz musician Arnis Mednis and his business partner Guntis. The two wanted to create a place where live jazz music could be heard in an informal and friendly atmosphere. Complete with a full recording studio in back, the two plan to have the sessions broadcast live on TV and the Internet, hopefully by this fall. For now you can just sit back and relax, and enjoy the smooth sounds of live jazz, right before your eyes on the City Jazz Club stage.
