Dorian Gray Mazā Muzeja iela 1-1 , Riga Mobile: 3712200 0720 Wokring hours: Mon-Sun 12.00 - 01.00, COUSINE: International PRICE LEVEL:
An excellent new restaurant named after the famous and mysterious Oscar Wilde tale has opened on narrow Mazā Muzeja Street, just around the corner from the Gutenbergs Hotel.
This petite restaurant offers a sophisticated setting in an interesting interior for an unhurried business lunch or a relaxed candlelit atmosphere for dinner. The international menu is broad and adventurous offering various contrasting combinations. Aleksandrs the manager carefully evaded the question of what his recommendation from the menu would be and said that everyone can find some options to suit themselves and their tastes, from vegetarians to lovers of red meat. The prices are surprisingly welcoming and will leave you with the feeling that you’ll soon be back. The chef, Viktors Podskocijs, expertly combines contrasting ingredients and ideas to produce creative dishes in the a la carte menu as well as in the simpler daily menu. Meanwhile, Aleksandrs works hard at creating a magical atmosphere by organizing various events. He highlighted the “record evening”, where everyone is welcome to bring a Vinyl with them and pass it to the locally known DJ. Every Thursday there’s a movie night, and once a month there’s an extra special lesbian-gay movie evening. Dorian Gray certainly breathes some fresh air into Riga’s dining scene, creating a pleasant alternative to other Old Riga dining venues.
