Global elite prepares to pay thousands each to charity and join “global party” in September

Charity representatives and journalists from around the world gathered at the Grand Palace Hotel in Riga last week for a press conference and evening event hosted by the hotel’s owners and by David Johnstone, founder of the Global Party – a worldwide event that redefines the notion of a party.
In four months’ time, on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th September, more than 80 parties will launch around the globe in a 24-hour period, making up the Global Party.
Inspired by the fictional adventures of the Jules Verne hero Phileas Fogg, the central character of the adventure “Around the World in 80 Days”, the Global Party has secured some of the best venues across the world’s continents, including 5-star hotels, famous nightclubs and private residencies.
The owners of these properties, scattered across 71 cities, Riga included, will host their own unique individual parties, inviting their city's elite and creating a truly global guest list.
Up to 12 charities will benefit directly from the event. Funds will be raised directly for these charities, and their cause will be highlighted to the 100,000 invited guests. The consequent press coverage will amplify the charities’ profiles to a new global audience.
Charities benefiting include ARK (Absolute Return for Kids), Blue Marine Foundation, the Duke of Edinburgh Award (IAA International Award Association), IIE (Institute of International Education), Pratham, the Raisa Gorbachev Foundation, Sentebale, the Tusk Trust and Virgin Unite. More will be announced in the coming weeks.
Five thousand pairs of tickets are available to buy for companies and individuals, priced from €1,360 per ticket. The Global Party acts as the ultimate gift, its organizers say, as guests have the choice of attending any one of the 80-plus parties around the world.
In addition, the event’s directors will host an exclusive Pre-Party at the Natural History Museum in London on September 8 for those who purchase the first 750 pairs of tickets. Each invitee will receive a limited edition “Global Party Key-2 Luxury” silver key-ring, allowing them access to thousands of personal contacts and exclusive VIP privileges for life.
The strategists behind this venture aiming to bring together the best locations and luxury brands in the world to raise millions for charities are David Johnstone, a luxury lifestyle expert, and the renowned British hedge fund veteran Lord Stanley Fink.
