Baltic furniture 2008

From 2 to 5 October at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre, Riga, Latvia will take place the biggest in the Baltic countries show of Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian furniture manufacturers – the 13th International Furniture and Interior Design Fair “Baltic Furniture 2008”.

As of the year 2008, owing to a new subsection, the Design Pavilion, the Baltic Furniture fair expands to two exhibition halls, adding 6700 square metres of exhibition area to display design furniture and accessories.

The Baltic Furniture fair will start a new tradition for the first time presenting the 2008 Baltic Furniture Manufacturers Design Award in three categories – Industrial Design, Unique Design and Idea of Design. An international, competent jury will evaluate pieces of furniture entered for competition.

A great number of furniture wholesalers and retailers from many countries and general public attend the fair each year. Representatives from the leading architects offices of Sochi, the city of the Winter Olympic Games in 2014, have applied for attending “Baltic Furniture 2008” to get information about the designers offer, to meet with furniture manufacturers and sellers and to take part in the panel of Latvia’s furniture manufacturers and Russian designers and architects.

Among the visitors will be such Russian designers as Tatyana Mironova, Med Aliev, Victoria Udalova (Moscow), Andrei Kabanov (St. Petersburg), Tamara Burdina (Anapa), as well as Aleksey Bavikin, a vice-president of the Architects’ Association of Russia and a counsellor of architecture and engineering sciences of Russian Academy, and Vasily Gorbunov, a chairman of the board of Architects’ Association of Russia, Chernomorsk branch, etc.

The coverage in media of the exhibition will be provided not only by journalists from Baltic mass media but their counterparts from major Russia’s design and architecture magazines, such as SALON INTERIOR, ELITE территория интерьера, DOMUS, НОВЫЙ ДОМ, Идеи Вашего Дома, Project Baltia, TATLIN, Проект Россия, Проект International, Проект Классика.

In last exhibition took part 169 companies from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Belarus, as well as from the USA, Israel, Vietnam, China, India, Italy, Malaysia, Russia, Spain and Germany. It was visited by 35,907 field professionals and other visitors.
