There’s a new ladies fashion shoe boutique in town. Madam Bonbon offers stylish shoes from exclusively Spanish footwear manufacturers such as Pedro Garcia, Magrit, Pons Quintana, Chie Mihara and Pura Lopez.
Shopping here is more like visiting an old friend, because this boutique looks like an apartment rather than a fashion store. Set up with vintage furniture and decorations, the shoes are displayed everywhere including the living room, bedroom, even inside the bathroom.
Another unusual angle is that those in the mood for shopping should telephone to arrange an appointment. We visited Madam Bonbon herself, whose real name is Vanda Strautmale. She’s one of the two owners who are equally passionate about shoes; evident when she tried to convince us that every lady needs at least several models for every occasion, including a couple of pairs for sex. The sales process is more like a private fitting because once the client arrives, the entrance of the shop is locked and the focus shifts to trying on every shoe in your size, starting from the flat sandals up to the highest stilettos. Madam Bonbon emphasized that to find the best buy it’s necessary to try everything - while drinking a cup of coffee or a glass of champagne.
As the end of season sale fades out and the Autumn/Winter collection arrives during the first week of September, be ready to spend a few hours and a few hundred euro, if you choose to visit.
