  Who would have thought a chain pub could offer the feel of a neighborhood hangout? It’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

While Old Town has become almost prohibitively expensive for many these days, there are some venues, like this one, where one can still grab an affordable meal or snack, day or night. The pub grub is downright good, and prices average about € 7.30 for snacks, salads and sandwiches, while most meals range from € 8.70-14.50; all beer on tap is € 3. They also offer a daily business lunch special. I tried to order a salad with my Guinness Beef Stew, but Inese, everyone’s favorite friendly barmaid (formerly of De Lacey’s fame), advised me against it. “You won’t need the salad; the portion of stew is enough.” And she was right. It’s nice to know that some places in Riga are still concerned about the customer above the profit. This new branch of Stella Pub seems to truly be the place where everyone knows your name.
