We highly recommend visiting this corner of tranquility in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city for a business lunch or a romantic rendezvous.
Restaurant Bergs has now diverged from its slightly chilly classicism, adding a few warm African-inspired touches to its interior, as well as making the most of seasonal products to form a new menu. Restaurant Bergs is decorated in a contemporary style, which has been thoughtfully designed to provide guests with a calm and intimate retreat in the middle of the Riga business center. The modern interior is accented with tribal design elements, such as woven furniture and voodoo-ish masks. One more interesting detail – on the ceiling you’ll notice voluminous white decorations in the shape of cabbage heads, also a logo of Hotel Bergs. The legend has it that when well-known Latvian entrepreneur Kristaps Bergs, back in the 19th century wanted to set here a bazaar, the place was outside the city walls and, in fact, was a cabbage field. The restaurant’s glass veranda with a wonderful view of the sprinkling fountain in the courtyard has also expanded, and an outdoor terrace is also available.
Moving on to the food. Under the leadership of chef Kaspars Jansons the restaurant provides an exquisite cuisine for true gourmands with its distinguished service. The artful presentation of any of the outstanding dishes on offer is yet another chance to feast your eyes as well as stomach. On our visit we have tried excellent tagliatella with truffle oil and egg sauce, spinach, assorted mushrooms and Parmesan cheese, which was perfect in a word! Seasonal hits include veal fillet medallion with veal tongue, terrine of potatoes and red wine with a tubular bone reduction. For the dessert indulge in a wide selection of homemade ice cream and sorbet, including even a spinach yogurt ice cream.
So, welcome to the renovated Restaurant Bergs, which is offering good old quality in a brand new setting.
