The latest addition to Old Riga’s night scene.
A new, curiously named venue – Scandal – combines a bar, restaurant and night club. Once inside, the group I was with found itself in the middle of a dance floor surrounded by beautiful ladies and sugar daddy types, which made sense since the cover charge was just over €14 – a sound tactic if you want to keep the teeny bopper crowd at bay. On the right, you will find a bar providing an average selection of cocktails at average prices, starting from €5 and nudging upwards to €10. At weekends, there are two gogo dancers perched atop podiums, who shake their booties over the heads of the bar staff who are busily shaking cocktails.
Upstairs, you will find a restaurant with a small menu emphasizing Thai dishes. The kitchen is open late and the staff is polite, and you can expect to wait approximately 15 minutes for your order to arrive. However, during the night this space is shared with the smokers and the music is the same as on the ground floor.
For ultra feminine ladies and those who adore R&B, there’s a smaller all-pink "Jam" room with crystal chandeliers, disco balls and puffy pink sofas.
