Prime location, delicious food at down to earth prices.
At the beginning of next spring, a brand new luxury hotel, Neiburgs, will be unveiled just a few steps from Dome Square, the beautiful central square of the Old Town. What’s exciting about the project is that it promises to show off one of the city’s finest Art Nouveau buildings to maximum effect. And, until it does open, the owners of this marvellous structure have opened a classy restaurant there by the same name. The interior at Neiburgs is indeed suitably elegant yet unobtrusive. There are two type of table settings, with crisp white tablecloths or with a design in a more «democratic» yet stylish shade of black. The menu is packed with plenty of delights, including the chef’s daily menu, an evening special menu and a separate weekly lunch menu, but overall they focus on traditional European cuisine prepared in the Latvian style.
Chef Sandis Bruzas isn’t afraid to experiment in the kitchen, intriguingly combining long forgotten traditional Latvian recipes and ingredients with more uptodate methods of cooking. We suggest you have a truly Latvian experience by asking for milk-vegetable soup, or layered fried herring with tomato and onion served with roasted bread. If you still have room for dessert, try Sandis’ version of Tiramisu, made out of cottage cheese and served with seasonal berries. Mmmmm...
