The brand new complex Wild Duck is a hunting lounge, hotel and restaurant all in one,
and it's just opened its doors! Just a hour's ride beyond the borders of Riga you'll find another world created to ease your mind, delight your appetite and relax your body, alone or with friends or colleagues.
Wild Duck houses a unique hunting restaurant, the first ever in Latvia, offering a wide array of game specialties with prices starting at 5 euros. Just a quick glance at the ample menu will set your mouth watering: variations of wild boar, roasted rabbit, steak or the delectable "game of the day". The owner and chef guarantees that all of the ingredients are fresh and right out of the woods and we have to agree that our meal was excellent.
A sauna and Jacuzzi are perfect after a hefty dinner, or so. There's a professional bathhouse attendant who will make your experience truly memorable, we were told by the director of the complex, Gints Zentelis.
For those who want to prolong their stay at Wild Duck even further, there are cottages with a marvellous river view and hotel rooms, all of which are equipped with many amenities. There's also a chance to book a hunting tour in the nearby woods, or photograph the hunt if you don’t fancy doing the killing yourself. Or avoid the hunting altogether; we were told that river is full of alluring fish.
Even though we spent just a few hours there, we all came away feeling as relaxed as we would have done after a weekend in the countryside.
