After visiting the central market, don’t miss Pirosmani!
A rustic restaurant named after one of Georgia’s most revered painters, Niko Pirosmani, serves up authentic Georgian treats in an elegantly ethnic atmosphere. The owner, who is also the head chef, Kamara, is of Georgian origin and came to Latvia because of an affair of the heart. Even in her seventies, she is still full of love for life. You can feel it through the dishes she presents.
She said that Georgian cuisine is absolutely specific and different from its Caucasian neighbors, making it an exciting experience for gourmands hunting for new and delicious impressions. So now she puts great efforts into teaching the chef's assistant all the secrets of Georgian cuisine.
The food is truly delicious, from the savory lamb stew to the hinkali meat dumplings. Kmara revealed the secrets of her own good health – eat stewed food and a lot of greens, avoid mayonnaise, and, no matter what, look at things positively.
Of course, Georgian wine and homemade chacha grape vodka help too, and they're also on the menu.
