This is just what the Baltics’ premier seaside resort has needed for years – a classy “bar and grill” restaurant virtually out on the dunes.

36.linija overlooks a swathe of sandy beach and the Bay of Riga, even if it is on the comparatively isolated eastern stretch of town. On the varied menu are high-quality oysters, baby squids in a spicy pumpkin-oil marinade, grilled lobster with a herby saffron sauce… but there are also fine versions of old favorites such as burgers, tartares and Caesar salads – and a kids’ menu too.
