Gourmet burger restaurants have been a dominant trend in Riga for some time
now. We also decided
to experience some
novel burger taste
sensations.
The idea for this
place came from
Germany. Burger
story’s owners
gained some extremely
delicious experience there and decided to use
it in gastronomic Riga. This January their first burger restaurant was launched in one of the city’s restaurant quarters, at Ģertūdes 16, and in March the Burger story continued and started to host visitors also in the old town at Smilšu 14. A cozy and warm ambience, natural range of colors, comfortable wooden furniture coupled with tailor-made décor – all complement the burgers. We opened the menu and didn’t know where to start, as even the dishes’ names made our taste receptors work intensively, creating a strong desire to taste at least two or three. We did – and we were not disappointed. As we found out, our choice of BBQ burger with bacon and cheese (€5.30) is highly recommended. The tastes exceeded our expectations, and there is definite proof as it is hard to cheat us since all of the amazingly fresh ingredients are Latvian. The taste was both special and local. We couldn’t fail to notice that at Burger story only medium-rare meat is served in contrast to similar places where the meat is well-done, and the bun was freshly baked.
But we didn’t just confine ourselves to burgers. Our second choice was given to a milkshake with an original link to a 140- year-old sweet Baltic legend – Laima halva Waffle cake (€3.50). There is a wide variety of milk cocktails, so this is one of just a few places to relax with kids and treat them
to a tasty and nutritious drink and other delicacies for young gourmands.
Burger story is also one of those rare places that is open really late on Fridays and Saturdays – till 6am. So it’s possible to taste a juicy bun – beef, lamb, chicken or vegetarian – at any time of the day and night, whether it’s for brunch, lunch or dinner.
By the end of the year, the Burger story chain will be enlarged with an additional three burger restaurants in Riga, thereby cementing the birth of new burger story, made out of certified local eco-products.
