The latest collection by Lithuanian designer Julia Janus is called alchemy in my kitchen. The inspiration comes from the idea of mixing, combining, and creating new substances. Fluid to solid, clear to blur, matted to shiny.
All of Janus’ prints are uncommon and unique. Pictures of different objects are transformed into one-of-a-kind images that appear on different materials and garments. The style is geared toward mature city souls who are exuberant about life. The clothes serve several functions – they are elegant yet comfortable, with a strong spirit of now-ness. They’re for those who feel free and unrestricted.
Every collection contains items that include transparent material. There are always garments with an open back, and dresses or skirts with a wide split. So the collection exudes sexuality: northern monastic, obscure, ritual. This is again the “alchemy” with its dark secret, sharp mind, and clear gaze.
But “being sexy” here isn’t about tight clothes and décolleté. It’s about creating
Something mysterious and awaking curiosity. This style is more intelligent-smart-sexy. Even though collection reveals an appeal of elegance, reticence and contemporary decency, the back of the clothing is still the sexiest accent of this collection. For this reason it becomes even more savage.
The Julia Janus concept stores have a unique way of displaying the collections, so obviously to create a full and harmonious atmosphere a special soundtrack is needed. The young creative composer Vilius Tamošaitis integrates different sounds from the Baltic region such as rain, conversations, the wind, birds, and noise on the streets and the markets into modern electronic music. in collaboration with innovative chefs from the Nordic countries a look-cookbook called Fashion&Food is being created.
The result of this uncommon perception of life, art, fashion, and cuisine is now available at the concept store at the Riga Plaza shopping mall, as well as at the boutique stores of the brands’ partners Katana Boutique and Klase.
